Recently, I strung a couple of geometric shaped wooden beads to create an easy-to-wear everyday necklace. With some extra beads on hand, I thought, why not make a graphic patterned one too? Here are some process shots!
- Wooden Beads
- Natural Leather Cord
- Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Acrylic Seal (optional)
These are really fun and easy to make. The patterns are all up to you! You could use the tape to create cleaner lines, or simply paint on polka dots/stripes/brush strokes/etc. After leaving them to dry, I coated them with acrylic seal spray just to prevent the paint from coming off easily. Lastly, thread them through a leather cord and tie a sliding knot to finish off. Trim the ends with a pair of scissors, and you’re done! You can also use chains or nylon cords. These natural leather cords are really soft and great for accessories. I will be doing a leather bracelet tutorial using the same leather cords soon.
You could opt for a minimal look or go crazy on a funky patterned one with this necklace. Have fun with it!
